School Feeding Program

Several years ago we began a feeding program in several of the local elementary schools where many of our sponsored children were attending. We realized many of the children in the community would go for days without any food. Without proper nutrition, not only was their health compromised but so was their capacity to learn as they lived just to survive. Research was done by several of our volunteers to develop a cost effective meal that could be easily made on the school grounds from food sources readily available. This program was so successful that we desired to offer it in others schools in the area as well. Today we offer over 5,500 meals to school children Monday – Friday.
The feeding program hs brought astonishing changes to the lives of these children. Recent visitors to the area remarked how there are no more runny noses and no protruding bellies. Even the local doctors who serve our sponsored children have noticed a dramatic drop in the number of children seeking medical assistance. They also noted that those who do come in heal much more quickly. The children are much more motivated and able to learn at school. This program is one of our most successful and effective community projects to date. It has a measurable and practical effect in the lives of thousands of children throughout the area we serve.
